Irene B. Kostige, 96, of Wayne Woodlands Manor went into eternal life on Saturday morning at Wayne Woodlands. Her husband was the late Joseph Kostige who died in 2002.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Michael and Mary Bohuski Pawloski, she was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and prior to her retirement in 2000 she was the clerk-in-charge at the Lakeville Postal Office after 25 years of service. She enjoyed assisting new patrons to their new surroundings and introducing them to the area.
She was also a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Ledgedale where she was a member and former secretary of its Altar and Rosary Society for many years and supported their activities.
Irene was a community minded person and a volunteer to several organizations including the Ledgedale Fire Company Auxiliary, the Lakeville Auxiliary, and the Historical Hemlock School, formerly the Lakeville Elementary School in Lakeville. She also assisted at the Food Distribution Center.
Patricia and Nancy would like to thank everyone at Wayne Woodlands Manor for their excellent care for many years and also Barbara Herzog for many years of friendship.
Surviving are daughters Patricia Worzel of Lackawaxen and Nancy Kutz of Hawley; grandsons Christopher Kutz and Mark Worzel; a great-grandson Richard Worzel; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons-in-law Richard Worzel in 1993 and Samuel Kutz in 2007; brothers Anthony and Stanley Pawloski; sisters Estelle Mignerey, Stephanie Oprisko, and Helen Davis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00am in St. Mary’s Church 334 St. Mary’s Church Road Lake Ariel.
Friends may call Wednesday from 9:00am until till time of Mass.
Interment, Lakeville Cemetery, Lakeville.
