Private interment took place in the Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Sylvia J. Rivezzi, RN, Lake Ariel, died Tuesday afternoon in the Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness. Her husband is Vincent Rivezzi.  The couple would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on December 18th.

Born in 1943 in Honesdale, Sylvia was the daughter of the late Emil O. and Thelma Rutledge Brown. She was a graduate of the former Lake Consolidated School and went on to earn her degree from the Temple University Hospital School of Nursing.

Sylvia dedicated herself to a long and rewarding nursing career, caring for her patients at Wayne Memorial Hospital with unparalleled compassion and dedication. She ascended to the position of Nursing Supervisor at the hospital, where she emphasized a patient-first focus amongst the nursing staff. Though she retired in 2002, she always maintained her passion for helping others.

Sylvia was a devoted member of the Lake Ariel United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially when dessert was involved.

She is survived by her children – Vincent Rivezzi and his companion Sara Barnes, Tammy Rivezzi and her companion Les Davis, and Mark Rivezzi and his wife Joy. Also surviving is her brother Gary Brown and his wife Theresa; grandchildren Wendy Soliz, Timothy Rivezzi, Nicholas Gregory, Esq., Ashley Yatsonsky, Andrew Rivezzi, Gabrielle Gregory, and Logan Gregory; great grandchildren Allison Soliz, Ryan Yatsonsky, Cameron Soliz, Willow Yatsonsky, and Josephine Rivezzi; brother-in-law Mario Rivezzi; and, numerous nieces and nephews.

Sylvia was preceded in death by sisters Edna Swingle and Marion Jeffreys, as well as brothers Arthur and Arnold Brown.

Private funeral services were held Monday, September 18th in the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.

Private interment took place in the Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sylvia’s memory to Lake Ariel United Methodist Church.
