Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Shirley Ramos Gatdula born as Purita Balaguer Ramos, was born on July 17, 1950, lived in Hemlock Farms, Lords Valley, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 28th, 2022 at the age of 72 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. She was predeceased by husband, Jose Santa Maria Gatdula. Born in Albay, Philippines she was the daughter of the late Terzo and Mena Balaguer Ramos. She was a member of St. John Neumann Parish in Lords Valley. Prior to retirement, she was a baker at the Wal-Mart in Canal Winchester, Ohio. Shirley was a young widow who raised her eight children all by herself. Before coming to America, she dedicated many years serving her Catholic Parish Church San Diego de Alcala. She helped raised funds for Catholic apostolate. Her whole life was dedicated to serving her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed many things in life but cooking good food and feeding her family gave her the greatest joy. She was very proud of all her granddaughters and grandsons and great-grandchildren. She loved mightily and gave her all. Shirley left behind her daughters Elma Farnsworth (her husband Brian of Lords Valley, PA); Nadja Reasoner (husband Donald of Columbus, Ohio) and Leana Mendiola (husband Leonardo of Columbus, Ohio); sons Voltaire Gatdula of the Philippines, Nino Gatdula of the Philippines ( his wife Jaylie Balitaosan), Nathaniel Gatdula of Columbus, Ohio (his wife Virginia of the Philippines) and Joselito Gatdula (his wife Maricel of the Philippines); 23 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several sisters; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Carmelo Gatdula (Jeanette Contreras Gatdula); grandsons Leniar Gatdula and Austin Gatdula; and several brothers. Private cremation took place at the Lake Region Crematory in the James Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
