Ora Theron Nackenhorst, 92, of Newfoundland, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Briarwood Manor. She was the wife of the late Frederick Nackenhorst, with whom she shared fifteen years of marriage before his passing in 1950.

Born on October 29, 1923, she was the daughter of Wallace & Esther (VanBuskirk) Simons of Newfoundland, PA. In addition to her parents and late husband Frederick, Ora was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Anna Cunningham. Surviving are a niece, Romayne Olsommer of Newfoundland, a nephew, John Gary Cunningham of Greentown, a great nephew Matthew Olsommer of Newfoundland, a great niece Ora Olsommer of Portland, OR, and a great­great nephew Alexander Olsommer.

Ora attended the Greene­Dreher High School in Newfoundland graduating in 1940. She then attended Scranton Lackawanna College and graduated in 1942. Her work experiences included RCA in Camden, NJ; Eagles Nest in Bermuda; Lanaco Products, Newfoundland; Bell Manufacturing in Freeland, PA; Continental Industries in NY; ITT in NJ; ATI in CT; and General Electric in CT from 1973 until 1995 when she retired at 70 years of age. She was a member of the Huntington UMC and the Nichols UMC in CT and a fifty­year member of the Greene­Dreher Eastern Star. She was also a dedicated pet therapy participant with her beloved “Kinder”, an amateur artist, and a gardening enthusiast.
