A viewing will take place Thursday, February 11th from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, Pa with services at 12:00pm by Rev. Fred Snyder, Pastor of the La Anna United Methodist Church.

All CDC and State guidelines will be strictly enforced, including the mandatory use of facial coverings and proper social distancing.

Please be prepared to pay your respects in a timely manner while refraining from physical contact. Once you have paid your respects it is kindly asked that if you are staying for the service to take your seat or we respectfully ask you to exit the funeral home.

If necessary, please be prepared to wait outside before entering the funeral home.

Melissa L. Brannen – Black, 51, of Lake Ariel, died Saturday afternoon at home following a courageous battle with cancer. Her loving husband of 30 years is John Black.

Born March 27, 1969 in Newton, NJ, she was the daughter of Georganne Davis-Pahonich of Florida and the late Lee Brannen. She was a graduate of Western Wayne High School.

She had a love for singing and painting rocks. She also loved arts and crafts. Her most cherished memories and times were camping at Indian Campgrounds in Bloomsburg with her family and friends.

Melissa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter-in-law who always thought of her family first.

Also surviving are a daughter Karma Black of Lake Ariel; sons Corey Black of Wilkes-Barre, Brandyn Black and his fiancé Kaitlyn Good of Dickson City, and Karter Black of Lake Ariel; father and mother-in-law Fred and Eleanor Myers of Lake Ariel; brothers Dean and Denny Vaughn both of Florida; grandson Riley; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister Arlene Perkins.
