Marie F. Brodheim, 79 of Philadelphia, died Monday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton.

Born August 18, 1941 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late of Francis and Helen Phelps Sweeney. Prior to retirement, she was the Director of Environmental Services at Evangelical Manor in Philadelphia. She was a member of St. Dominic’s Church, Philadelphia.

Marie was a woman who truly loved life.  She was also her grandchildren’s biggest fan.  She could always be found on the sidelines of a soccer field, or in the bleachers at a basketball game.  She loved to have fun, it wasn’t uncommon to find her randomly dancing or singing.  She loved Elvis Presley and had an odd fondness for rap music.  She certainly left her mark on everyone she met.

Surviving are a daughter Lynn Kennedy and her husband Shane of Lake Ariel; a son David Brodheim and his wife Jennifer of Philadelphia; a sister Helen Hecker of Philadelphia; grandchildren Shanelyn, Kierstin, Riley, and Andrew; great grandchildren Makayla, Makai, and Avery; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Stacy Brodheim; brothers Charles and Francis; sister Dorothy.

Private cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and under the care and direction of James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.

Spring Inurnment, St. Dominic’s Cemetery, Philadelphia.

Memorial contributions in Marie’s honor may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, PO Box 32141, New York, NY 10087
