Lois Miller Shaffer, of South Canaan Township, died Monday, January 24, 2022 at Wayne Woodlands Manor, at the age of 91.

Born in South Canaan on October 6, 1930, to Jesse and Mary Emery Miller, Lois graduated from Lake Ariel High School in 1948 and completed a one-year course at Commercial School. She met her future “hubby” of 68 years, Ronald, at the South Canaan Bible Protestant Church youth group. Married May 27, 1950, Ronald and Lois lived in New York and New Jersey for many years before moving back to South Canaan in 1987, into the house where Lois was born.

An accomplished seamstress and housekeeper, Lois blessed her friends and family with beautiful quilts and crafts as well as with her faithful hospitality; her home was a place of peace and welcome. Lois loved Jesus, and spent many hours reading her Bible, praying, and serving in her church.

Lois is survived by her son Robert and wife Jo Anne, her daughter Patricia Samuelsen and husband Dale, her son Gary and wife Susan, her grandchildren Wayne Shaffer, Ryan Samuelsen, Meagan Holt and husband Jacob, Lauren Soliz and husband Keith, Rachel Shaffer, and Sarah Shaffer, her great-grandchildren RJ, Arianna, and Christopher Holt; her sister Lenore Frey, and her brother Ernest Miller.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband Ronald and her brothers Donald Miller and Randall Miller.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4pm in the Canaan Bible Chapel, 30 Hemlock Road, Lake Ariel with Pastor Daniel Henwood officiating.

Friends may call Sunday from 2pm until the time of the service in the church.

Spring interment, East Canaan Cemetery.
