LEWIS HENRY VINCENT FACCHIN

Lewis “Lew” Facchin was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.  He left this world quietly and peacefully on January 9, 2021 at the age of 82.

Lew was born to Enez and Giavochino “Jack” Facchin on April 28th, 1938.  While attending Flushing H.S., Lew met then later married the love of his life, Jacqueline (Jacky) of 62 years.  Together they had 3 children, Kelli (David), Jack (Kai) and Mark (Ann), and 4 grandsons Mark Joe, Brian (Daniella), Daniel and Alex.

After graduation, Lew started working for Pan American World Airways.  His career started in the mailroom and ended in corporate accounting. Lew’s passion was the military.  After enlisting in the N.Y.S. National Guard, he transferred to the 77th ARCOM in the U.S. Army Reserves.  After 35 years of honorable military service, he retired at the highest enlisted rank as a Command Sergeant Major.

Lew was also an accomplished singer.  He participated in various singing groups: his favorite being the College Point Scholar Cantorum. His fondest singing achievement was performing for Pope John Paul 2nd during the 1995 Papal visit to the United States.

Lew had many hobbies and interests, including photography, woodworking, automotive repairs, and model trains.  He loved spending his summers “AT THE LAKE” and although he never learned to swim, spent many hours fishing and boating on his beloved Schroon Lake.   He would often say a bad day of fishing was better than a good day at work!

A Mass of Resurrection is scheduled for 11:00 am on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 at St. Fidelis R.C. Church in College Point, New York.

Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Flushing, New York with a full military burial.
