Joseph J. Scibilia of Lake Ariel died Tuesday afternoon at home. His wife of 52 years is the former June Scheel.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Anthony and Sarah Vento Scibilia, he worked as an executive at the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant prior to his retirement. He did a tour of duty in the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed going to the horse races, golfing, doing crossword puzzles, playing dominoes, and watching old westerns. He was a big sports fan, including the NY Yankees, the NY Giants, and Notre Dame football. In his younger years he played minor league baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers.  For years, you could always find him chipping golf balls on his property or sitting under his weeping willow tree. His greatest loves were doting on his granddaughters and enjoying his wife’s cooking!

Also surviving are sons Rick Campbell of Scranton and Gene Campbell of Oklahoma; daughters Kathie Henderson of Texas and Julie Megargel and her husband Jeff of Maryland; a sister Josephine DeFeo of New Jersey; grandchildren Melissa Baker, Christin Malicki, and Grace Megargel; a great-granddaughter Ava Lynn Price; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister Marie DeGregorio.

A Blessing Service will be held Sunday at 4:00pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Friends may call Sunday from 2:00-4:00pm.

Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
