Joseph C. Prussia, Lake Ariel, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning.   His wife is the former Jeri Leverich.  They had been married 43 years.

Born April 18, 1951 in Port Jervis, NY, he was the son of the late Frank J. and Loretta Jones Prussia.  He was a 1969 graduate of the Lake Consolidated School.   Upon graduation, he began a long and rewarding career as a butcher.   He worked throughout the area at ACME Markets, Lake Region IGA and Bill’s ShopRite. He also had his own deer processing business, known as “Butcher’s Bay”. Joe was also a long time member of The Irem Shriners, A.A.S.R. Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, Antique Automobile Club of America and Salem Lodge #330.

Joe was a much loved and devoted son, brother, father, father-in-law and grandfather.   He was a butcher by trade and well known for his quality meat products and service.  Joe was a hard worker and instilled that quality in his children and grandchildren.  He was known to his grandchildren as “Bompy” and they loved learning all he had to teach them.  Joe was able to build and fix everything and there wasn’t anything he could not do. He was always willing to help anyone and he would give them the shirt off his back.  Joe was well known and admired in his community.   He loved spending time with his family in the butcher shop, working on projects, hunting, cooking and watching movies.   Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Also surviving are his daughters Michelle Mistishin and her husband Michael and Lacey and her husband Curtis all of Lake Ariel; brothers John Prussia and his wife Cindy of Lake Ariel and Frank Prussia and his wife Bessie of Jefferson Twp;  his sister Connie Prussia of  Newfoundland;  his beloved grandchildren Cooper, Kennedy, Carter, Khloe, McKinnley, Alexandra and Mitchell; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ian, who respected and learned a great deal from his dad.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11am in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd Lake Ariel by Rev. William Rushik.

Friends may call Saturday from 10 am until time of service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe made to Shriners Hospitals For Children www.shrinershospitals.org/donate.
