Joan Mary Ranski, 80 of Lake Ariel, passed away peacefully on Monday morning at home by the side of her loving and dedicated husband of 59 years, Richard Ranski.

Born, February 18, 1942 in Elizabeth, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Kwiatek – Kozak. She was a graduate of Linden High School. Prior to retirement, she was a secretary for Crum and Foster Insurance Company and was the Human Resources Director for Bamberger’s which later became Macy’s. She was a member of the St. Thomas More / St. Mary’s Parish Community.

Joan was a gentle person who appreciated nature and had a special place in her heart for all animals.  Country music and Elvis were her favorites.  She was a fan of old western movies and idolized John Wayne and would occasionally attempt to imitate him for a laugh.  She was the world’s greatest listener and giver of comfort and compassion.  She could often be found in the kitchen creating delicious meals from her favorite recipes.  She even managed to trick her children into eating a liver dish so they could stay healthy and strong.  She was the greatest audience for her husband’s jokes.  Holding a twinkle in her eye, she enjoyed teasing her husband and was always ready with a warm hug for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved deeply and was deeply loved.

Survived by her daughters Loretta Radulic and her husband Dennis of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, and June Sagi and her husband Zoltan of Byram, NJ.; a son Duane Ranski and his wife Deborah of Colorado; sisters Carol Jancola of Oregon, Patricia Cerar of Pottstown, Pa, and Marilyn Maguda of Florida; brothers Joseph and Peter Kozak both of New Jersey; grandchildren Brittany Saccento and her husband Garrin, Alexis Radulic and her fiancé Andrew Bartlett, Cameron Radulic and Nichole Fano, Samantha Williams and her husband Nicholas, Sabrina Sagi and her fiancé Michael Borges, Skyler Sagi and Michael Romano, Trevor Ranski, and Austin Ranski and his wife Yarhley; great grandchildren Zachary, Anthony, and Olivia Saccento, Benjamin and Nathan Williams; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her niece and goddaughter Jeanette Jancola.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, February 3rd at 10:30am in St. Mary’s Church, 334 St. Mary Church Rd. Lake Ariel, Pa 18436 officiated by Rev. Stephen Bosomofai, Pastor.

Friends may call Thursday, February 2nd from 4:00pm – 7:00pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel, Pa 18436.
