Gregory W. Johnson, 53, of Lake Ariel, died Friday evening at Commonwealth Hospice at Regional Hospital of Scranton after a courageous battle with cancer. His wife of 31 years is the former Kellie Barrett.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Victor and Esther Stanton Johnson, he was a graduate of Western Wayne High School, class of 1980. Greg was a member of St. Thomas More/St. Mary’s Parish Community. His entire career he worked in the restaurant business until fulfilling his dream of owning his own restaurant, Victor’s in Hamlin.

The family would like to thank the nurses of Regional Hospital of Scranton eighth floor, the intensive care unit and Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA for their compassionate care.

Also surviving are daughters, Sara Drougas and husband, Dimitri, Lake Ariel; Christine, Lake Ariel; and Abryel, at home; sons, Gregory and wife, Megan, Scranton; and Eric, at home; grandchildren, Mila and Pantelis Drougas, Lake Ariel; a brother, John and his wife, Sandra, Greentown; sisters, Sandy Kamarauskas and husband, Frank, Scranton; Jackie Scarfalloto and husband, Angelo, Montrose; Laura O’Hara and husband, Bob, Ocala, Fla.; Chris Henderson and husband, Bob, Dickson City; Terry Henderson and husband, Harry, Scott Twp.; and Karen Johnson, Scranton; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by a brother, Victor; and a sister, Joanne Brudzinski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Thomas More Church, 105 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, by the Rev. Stephen J. Stavoy, pastor.

Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
