Merring, 85, formerly of Lake Ariel, PA, went home to be with the Lord Monday April 14, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon T. Merring in February 2011. Born February 5, 1929 in Great Bend, PA, she was the daughter of the late Vernon “Bunt and Catherine Mittan. She was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School. She was a member of the South Canaan Free Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter Donna Valenzano Parry and her husband Richard of Lake Ariel; a son Gary and his wife Brooke of Venice, FL; 5 grandchildren Chad Merring of Edison, NJ, Heather Valenzano of Plymouth, PA, Marie Valenzano Prince of Tillamook, OR, Carlyle Merring of Houston, TX, and Austin Merring of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a sister Ruth Bortree of Varden, PA; nephews Randy and David Bortree; and a dear beloved niece Kathy Bortree Zadjura. The Family would like to give special thanks to Caregivers of America Hospice and Clarks Summit Senior Living for their love and compassion and unparalleled care. Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 16, 2014 at 11:00am in the Chapel at Fairview Memorial Park Rt. 435 Elmhurst. Arrangements by the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
