Dorothy Osecki, Scranton, formerly of Lake Ariel, passed away Monday morning at the Regional Hospital of Scranton after being stricken ill.   She was the widow of Stephen Osecki who passed away in 2003.

Born 1930 she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Petronella Mackarevich.  Dorothy was raised by her beloved aunt Adele Mackarevich Nye after her mother died in childbirth. Dorothy went into nursing school and worked for many years as a nurse at Mercy Hospital in Scranton.  A woman of deep faith, Dorothy was a devoted member of the St Thomas More/ St Mary’s Parish Community attending Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Ledgedale where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, the choir. and served as an Extraordinary Minister of Communion and lector.

She loved gardening, baking, flying with her husband in their own plane and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her daughter Christine Toole; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; her devoted church family.

She was preceded in death by her son Michael Osecki and daughter Victoria Lloyd.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11am in St. Mary’s Church, 334 St Mary’s Church Rd. Lake Ariel.

Friends may call Friday morning from 10am until the time of the Mass at the church.

Interment, parish cemetery.
