Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 28th at 1pm in the Hornbaker Cemetery, Hornbaker Cemetery Road, Madisonville with Rev. Scot Schlitter officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be to the donor’s favorite charity.

Carol Elkins Thomas, Sterling Twp., died Friday in the Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center after an illness.   Her husband is W. Alan Thomas.

Born 1946, in Wellsburg, West Virginia she was the daughter of the late Earl and Margaret Kerr Elkins and was educated in Wellsburg schools.  She went on to graduate from the Alleghany School of Nursing where she became a registered nurse as well as the West Virginia University.  She had been employed as a computer analyst with the Department of the Army.  She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Lackawanna Valley and attended the Madisonville Christian Church.  She was an avid collector of teddy bears and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 60 years.

Also surviving are a grandson, Ethan Thomas; brothers-in-law Floyd Thomas and his wife Rita and the Rev. Dr. Lawrence Thomas and his wife Evelyn; cousins Paul Lee and his wife Mary Lu and Marleen Marchant; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her stepdaughter Michele Lee Thomas in 2016.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 28th at 1pm in the Hornbaker Cemetery, Hornbaker Cemetery Road, Madisonville with Rev. Scot Schlitter officiating.
