Brenda S. Rake, 74 of Waymart, passed away Tuesday morning at Aventura at Terrace View Nursing Home in Olyphant.

Born in Milford, Pa, she was the daughter of the late Carlton and Dorothy Baker – Smith. Prior to retirement, she was a seamstress at Admore in Port Jervis, NY, she was a foster mom, and a caregiver for children with special needs.

Brenda enjoyed painting scenic and wildlife photos. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

Surviving are her daughter Nancy Robbins and her husband Albert of Dingmans Ferry; her son James Fahnestock, Jr. and his wife Lois of Eldred, NY.; sisters Linda Graham of Lackawaxen, Evelyn Fahnestock of Waymart, Debbie Arnoul of Lackawaxen, Sandra Bowen of Waymart, and Cheryl Conklin of Lackawaxen; a brother Eddie Smith of Pettsburg, KA.; grandchildren April Clark of Dingmans Ferry, James Fahnestock, III of Jeffersonville, NY, and Brittney Fahnestock of Eldred, NY; great grandchildren Kayne Clark, Kristopher Clark, and Payten Fahnestock; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister Carla Snyder.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to her sister’s Sandra Bowen and Evelyn Fahnestock for their care, love, and support of Brenda.

Private cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory in the James Wilson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
