Carpenter, of Waymart, died Saturday at Julia Ribaudo Healthcare Center after an illness. Her husband of 58 years William E. Carpenter died in 2016. Born in Drexel Hill, Pa, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Julia Lawton. Prior to retirement she was a Security Guard for Securitas at Cinram in Olyphant and UPS in Dunmore. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. She loved cooking, gardening, and camping with her family and friends. Surviving are a son Michael Carpenter and his wife Kathy of Carbondale; grandsons Jonathan Carpenter and Mathew McGraw both of Carbondale; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson Michael Carpenter, Jr. who died in 1988 and a sister Ruth Guiffre. Graveside services will be held in the Spring in the Simon Cemetery (Intersection of Mountain Rd. and McKinney Rd.
