William Kevin Rowen, Lake Ariel, died Tuesday. Born in Nurenberg, Germany, he was the son of the late Walter G. Rowen and Dorothy Lyman Shaffer. He was a graduate of Western Wayne High School and earned an Associate’s Degree in Specialized Technologies and Building Construction from Johnson Technical Institute as well as an Associate’s Degree in General Studies and Business Data and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management; both from Misericordia University. He was of the Christian faith. He was the owner and operator of Budget Repair and Service. He was a longtime member of the Lake Watch Group at Lake Wallenpaupack. His love of the water and Native American culture meant he could often be found artifact hunting on some of the islands on the lake. In his younger years he played for the Scranton Eagles Semi Professional Football Team. His other love was driving his 1971 “Demon” or “The Jukebox” as it came to be known. Bill enjoyed life, his family and his multitude of friends. He lived life to the fullest. To those who knew him best, he was caring and loyal and always ready to lend a helping hand. Surviving are his son, William James Rowen of Pittsburgh; his brother, Rev. Walter Rowen, of Exton, PA; his sister, Dorothy Olson, of Frederick, MD; nieces and nephews; as well as several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Lyman Rowen.
