Anthony V. Pappas, of Lakeville, died Thursday afternoon at home following an illness. His wife of 65 years is the former Theresa J. Janeczek.
Born in Dickson City, son of the late James Pappas and Helen Patyk Pappas, he was a member of St. Thomas More/St. Mary’s Parish Community. Before retirement, he owned and operated Tri-County Beer Distributors and was an owner/operator of Wallenpaupack School District Buses. He was a veteran of the United States Marines Corps. and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.
Also surviving are daughters, Debra Fabri and her husband, Elliot, of Shippenville, PA.; and Sharon Sowers and her husband, Lars, of Coplay, PA.; son, Mark Pappas and his wife, Teresa, of Greentown; son-in-law, Gregory Misuira, of Hop Bottom, PA.; sisters, Ann Marie Pappas, of Lakeville; Angela Muccino, of Port Lucia, Fla.; Leona Malinoski, of Lake Ariel; Juel Shutkufski, of Lakeville; and Romaine Vogel, of Hamlin; grandchildren, Elliot and Lauren Fabri; Jennifer and Stephanie Pappas; Linda, Christine and Gregory Misuira and Quentin Sowers; great-grandson, Cooper Misuira.
He was preceded in death by son, Anthony Pappas Jr.; daughter, Joan Misuira; grandson, Anthony “Tony” Fabri; brothers, Vincent and Ronald Pappas; and sister, Helen Ratay.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. St. Mary’s Church, 305 St. Mary’s Church Road, Lake Ariel, by the Rev. Stephen Stavoy.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel. Inurnment, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lake Ariel.
