William “Pop” Cahill of Lakeville died Monday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton after being stricken ill. His wife was the former Mary Johnson who died in 1999. Born in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Martin and Mary Hoey Cahill, he was a truck driver for A&P. He lived in Kearney, NJ until 1982 then moved to Madisonville replica watches where he lived until 2011 when he moved in with his daughter and her husband in Lakeville. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Moscow and St. Thomas More Church, Lake Ariel. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict from 1959-1961. He was an avid New York Giants fan. He enjoyed playing pool and telling jokes. Surviving are a daughter Linda Black and her husband Scott of Lakeville; a brother Dan Cahill of New Jersey; a sister Anne Gallagher of Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Billy Cahill; brothers Martin, Thomas, and Jack; sisters Patricia Parkinson and Elizabeth Jones. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30am in St. Thomas More Church 105 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00-7:00pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. |
