Brian R. Carey of The Hideout, Lake Ariel died Monday morning at home following a brief illness. His wife was the former Maureen LaFrance who died in 2008.
Born in Woburn, MA, son of the late Leo S. and Marie Coakley Carey, he worked as a Corrections Officer at SCI Waymart for 20 years and also worked as a heavy equipment operator at Keystone Quarry and as a security officer in the Hideout. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Fellowship Church, American Legion Post 139 in Milford, and a proud veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War.
Brian was an avid reader, golfer, and loved the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
Surviving are sisters Marie Hill of Stoneham, MA and Nancy Spolidoro of Hampton, NH; brothers John “Jack” and his wife Noreen of Lawrence, Ma and Kevin and his wife Erica of Wolburn, MA; grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sons Sean and Daniel; a daughter Michelle Lynn Kovaleski.
Funeral Services will be Saturday at 11:00am in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.
Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00am.
Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
