John M. Wargo, Maplewood, died early Monday morning in the Regional Hospital of Scranton Intensive Care Unit after an illness. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elna Ovens. Born in Dunmore on March 15, 1931, John was the son of the late John M. and Catherine Tropiak Wargo. He was a member of the Dunmore High School class of 1948. John was a devoted member of the St. Thomas More and St. Mary Parish Community. John had been employed as a loom technician for the former Jaunty Textiles, Scranton, and prior to his retirement, he and Elna developed and operated the White Birch Mobile Home Park in Maplewood. John was a charter member of the Maplewood Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the NRA, and a member of the Lackawanna County Audoboun Society since the age of 16. He was also a founding member of the Old Time Fiddlers, and his time spent playing guitar and singing with them was very dear to his heart. John served in the Unites States Naval Reserves. Also surviving are an aunt, Eleanor Weiss of Lake Ariel; cousins; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
