Wyland W. Holgate of Beach Lake, died Saturday morning at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart. His wife of 64 years is the former Fay L. Newenhouse.

Born in S. Abington Twp., son of the late Charles and Grace Bidwell Holgate, prior to retirement he self-employed as a contractor and worked in the maintenance department at Wayne Highlands School District. He loved gardening, cutting firewood, hunting, and fishing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.

Also surviving are a daughter Julie Gwozdziewycz and her husband Ed of Honesdale; a son Randy and his wife Lori of Kalispell, Montana; a sister Shirley Plum; grandchildren Christopher Brown, Sarah Holgate, Tanja Holgate, and Nicholas and Andrew Gwozdziewycz; great-grandchilren Ada, Alice, and Dominic Gwozdziewycz; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers Wayne, Ben, and David; a sister Frances.

Interment will be private in Arlington Cemetery, Lake Ariel.
