Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 5th at 12:45pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.  Military honors will be rendered immediately following the religious portion of the service.

 

Friends may call Wednesday morning from 10:45am until 12:45pm when the funeral service will begin.

 

Interment, private and at the convenience of the family in the family plot at Hornbaker Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial contributions be made in Alan’s memory to the Madisonville Christian Church or to the American Cancer Society.

Alan Thomas, Sterling, passed away early Saturday morning in the Embassy of East Mountain Nursing Home, Plains Twp., after an illness.   Alan was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan Henneforth Thomas and his second wife Carol Elkins Thomas.

Alan was born March 10, 1948, in Moscow and he was the son of the late S. Raymond “Ray” and Madeline E. Smith Thomas.  He served honorably in the United States Army and after his discharge from the Army he went on to work at the Tobyhanna Army Depot as a fireman for many years.  He was a Freemason and was a member of the Waymart Lodge.  He was a man of great faith.  He lived a good Christian life by treating others with care, compassion and dignity.  He was a member of the Madisonville Christian Church.

Alan loved motorcycles, model trains and more recently old cars; he loved his family, his grandson, and being a helping hand to whom ever he could.

Surviving are his grandson Ethan Thomas whom Alan raised as his own son; his beloved brothers Floyd “Flip” Thomas and his wife Rita and Rev. Dr. Lawrence Thomas and his wife Evelyn; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; countless friends.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter Michele Lee Thomas.
