Timothy Joseph O’Sullivan, Sr., aged 77, died peacefully on Friday, November 21 surrounded by his loving family, after suffering a stroke in Geisinger Community Medical Center. Tim was born in Staten Island on April 29, 1937 to immigrants of Ireland, Thade and Catherine O’Sullivan. He was the fourth of five children. He attended catholic schools most of his school years, but graduated from Tottenville High School. He attended college and served in the United States Army.

Tim was a hard worker all his life starting, usually working 2 or 3 jobs. His absolute favorite was being a NYC fire fighter at ladder 6, engine 9 in Chinatown. He made lifelong friends and saved countless lives. Other jobs included driving truck, real estate/land lord, bar owner and being a carpenter.

Tim married the late Janice (Ihnken) O’Sullivan in 1959 and together they raised 5 children. They lived in Staten Island, Damascus and South Canaan, Pa. They spent their summers at Walker Lake. Tim and Janice traveled to many places all around the world. Their homes were always open to family and friends for visits or longer stays as needed. After Janice passed, Tim took on the role of mother and father to his children, providing guidance, love, compassion and laughter.

They loved to go Irish Set dancing, and Tim even had his own students he gave lessons to.

Tim was the patriarch of his family. He loved life and loved people. His home was a gathering place for family and friends. All were welcome to come. His Thanksgiving gatherings frequently included over 70 guests in the family home. The family property was the location for reunions, weddings and countless parties. He will always be remembered for by his sharp wit, his generosity, his hard work, his great sense of humor, and for his love of debating. He loved car rides and exploring the countryside. He was always looking for a bargain, frequenting Aldi’s and yard sales. He was not usually concerned with expiration dates.

Tim is survived by his children, Kathleen and Bryan Warner, Eileen O’Sullivan and companion Rich Turner, William O’Sullivan and companion Victoria Fuller, and Nancy and Thomas Baudendistel; 14 grandchildren, Ashley and Andy Murray, Steven, Olivia and Benjaman Warner, Janice Warner, Rachael and Doug Conklin, Gary Warner, William, Brandon and Timmy O’Sullivan, Thomas and Emma Baudendistel, Stephanie and Rich Altschuh, Katy and Colleen Baudendistel; 3 great grandchildren, Brendan and Maive Murray, Aiden Baudendistel and the soon to be Baby Altschuh.
