Teresa del Portal, 98, of Freehold, NJ and formerly of Lake Ariel, died Sunday morning at Wedgwood Gardens Care Center following an illness. Her late husband Edberto del Portal died in 2008.

Born, May 26, 1922 in Cuba, she was the daughter of the late Salvador and Teresa Benitez Gomez. She was a member of the St. Thomas More / St. Mary Parish Community.

Teresa loved to cook and she would design and make her own clothes. She also made clothes for others. What she cherished most was being surrounded by her family.

Surviving are her daughters Miriam Fernandez and her husband Rafael of Lake Ariel, Mary Raurell of Florida, and Patricia del Portal – Forrestall and her husband Edward of Famingdale, NJ; a sister America Campos of New Jersey; brothers Angel and Salvador Gomez both of Florida; grandchildren Rafael Fernandez, Jessica Fernandez, Rafael Raurell, Gabi Gomez, Carlos Raurell, and Joshua del Portal; great  grandchildren Alex, Matt, Sarah Teresa, Madison, Sofia, Cristian, Elise, and Eve; nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by a brother Rogelio Gomez and son-in-law Rafael Raurell.

Funeral services will be private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.

Private Interment, St. Marys Cemetery, Ledgedale.
