Very sorry to hear about your loss. It was a pleasure to read about Roy and his fascinating life. I am a current Phi Gam brother and aspire to be like him. RIP

What a beautiful tribute to Roy. Was sad to here of his passing but what a long life he had. He has left such great memories that will forever be imprinted on your hearts. God blessed you with a wonderful Dad. Hugs to Joanne, Brad and your entire family. Marie, Bob, Trent & Sport

When I was about 14 years old Mr. Bertolet asked Pinky and I if we would like to watch an Irish setter give birth to her pups... Needless to say what young girl would say no to an opportunity like that. I remember that day like it was yesterday, even the last pup that wouldn’t start breathing, but Mr. Bertolet convinced us to keep rubbing it until it took its first breath. I have carried that memory with me for a lifetime and have shared it with many through the years. Thank you Roy, for sharing your love of animals with just a little girl from the neighborhood, it is truly a treasured memory.

He was such a fine man - so kind and caring. When I was in my early 20s he knew I was struggling and never charged me for vet care for my dog, including an operation that saved her life. I hope he knew how much that meant to me!

Sorry to hear of your dad's passing...and yet, 97 wow! Hope y'all got his genes. Your dad was always gracious to us neighborhood kids, while we were chasing around your lovely home! He was a good neighbor and of course our vet. He allowed us to explore and build all kinds of stuff in your creek and woods. I specifically remember your. Crazy Burmese cats that would use the toilet! I hope he was reasonably well in his later years. Take care and God bless!

Roy Sr. Was my father in law. He was brilliant, opinionated, generous, and ferocious in his love and concern for his family. However, I think he missed Grace every day. When he left us Tuesday, he walked right into her arms. What a wonderful homecoming it must have been for both. Goodbye Roy, thank you for everything, including the legacy of care.
