A celebration of Richard’s life will be held Friday at 4pm in the Light of Christ Church 2067 Moosic Lake Rd. Mt. Cobb officiated by Rev. Pat Lee.

 

A gathering for family and friends will immediately follow the service at the church.

 

In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial contributions be made in Richard’s name to the Light of Christ Church 2067 Moosic Lake Rd. Jefferson Twp., PA 18436 or to the donors favorite charity.

Richard VanDeLinde, Jr., Sterling, died early Monday morning in the Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness.  His wife of 57 years is the former Nancy Goodrich.

 

Born 1937 in Wyckoff, New Jersey, he was the son of Richard, Sr. and Margaret Osinga VanDeLinde and was a graduate of the Damascus High School.  He was a member of the Light of Christ Church.  Richard served in the United States Army for 2 years.  He was a retired member of the Local Union#524 Pipefitters and Plumbers.

 

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends and was known for his strong work ethic.

 

Also surviving are daughters Eleanor Billman and husband David of New Ringgold and Kimberly Field and husband Brian of Hamlin; sons Richard VanDelinde, III and wife Cindy Jones VanDeLinde of Winnweiler, Germany and Ronald VanDeLinde and wife Tina Schwartz VanDeLinde of Honesdale; a sister Margaret VanDelinde Smith and husband Frank “Chick” of Galilee; a sister in law Kay of Milanville;  grandchildren Britni Pender and wife Chelsea, Kayla, Elise and Dirk-Richard, Caleb Billman and wife Grace and Jonathan Billman and wife Katie, Samuel and Benjamin Field, Andrew, Sarina and Jacob;  great grandchild Everley Pender; nieces and nephews.

 

He was also preceded in death by brothers William C. and Marinus VanDeLinde.
