Patrick J. Rooney of the Hideout, Lake Ariel, died suddenly Sunday morning. His wife of 37 years is the former Dorothy Drexler.

Born in Orange, NJ, son of the late Joseph and Helen Koehler Rooney, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Montclair State University. He was a member of St. Thomas More/St. Mary’s Church Community.

Patrick was an avid golfer, food, wine & fine arts critic, plus being best buds with his grandson Noah. He was an active participant and served as president of the Wayne County Builders Association. Patrick also coached Tri-County little league baseball for several years. In recent years he was a construction superintendent for various building projects that stretched from California to Dubai.

Also surviving are a daughter Erin Mantilla and her husband Lucas of Emmaus; a son Jason and his wife Amanda of San Diego, CA; sisters Helen Simpson and Rosita Olpinksi; brothers Joseph, William, and Michael; a grandson Noah Manuel Mantilla; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother Richard.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00am in St. Thomas More Church 105 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel by Rev. Stephen J. Stavoy.
