Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30am in the St Thomas More Church 108 Tresslarville Rd. Lake Ariel by Rev. Stephen Stavoy, pastor.

Friends may call Friday from 4-7pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Interment and Blessing Service will be held Monday July 29th at 10:30 in the Long Island National Cemetery 2040 Wellwood Avenue Farmingdale, NY 11735 officiated by Deacon Jack McKenna.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Patricia’s honor to Autism Speaks 1 East 33rd Street, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10016

Patricia R. Vanyo, The Hideout, Lake Ariel, died early Wednesday morning in the Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness. She was the widow of William M. Vanyo, Sr who died in 2008.

Born 1930 in New York City, Patricia was raised in Newfoundland, Canada and was the daughter of the late James and Margaret Kelleher Hawco. She was a member of the St Thomas More St Mary’s Parish Community, Lake Ariel and its Altar and Rosary Society. Blessed with an incredible work ethic Patricia had a special way with people and excelled in the management of businesses and people. She worked for Barclay’s Bank, managed theaters in Manhattan then after moving to Pennsylvania worked at Ames and finally at the Hamlin Fun Center.

Surviving are a son William M. Vanyo, Jr. and his wife Vicky and a daughter Donna Sangster and her husband Gary all of Lake Ariel; a sister Alice Hickmont of Canada; grandchildren Jessica Pope and her husband Trai, Michelle Sangster, Michael, Vidya, Nadia and Anita Vanyo; great granddaughter Evelyn Pope; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter Debra Ann in 1962; siblings Daniel, Marie, Isabel and Marguerite.
