Patricia J. Hankins, of Honesdale, passed away on Tuesday, May 28 at home following an illness. Her husband of 43 years, Donald R. Hankins died in 1998.
Born in Lookout, Pa she was the daughter of the late Russell and Marguerite Branning Keesler. In her younger years, Pat enjoyed dog grooming and spent many hours working on many different breeds. After Donald passed away, Pat spent her free time pursuing her love of music and line dancing at the Senior Center in Honesdale, with her good friend Ron Deven, until her health prevented her from continuing.
Pat was always a huge hit with the audience at her shows. During their performances together, Pat would fill the room with her voice singing her favorite Jonny Cash song, “Folsom Prison Blues”, to a standing ovation: “I see a train a comin’ a rollin’ round the bend. I ain’t seen the sunshine since I don’t know when, I’m stuck her in Folsom Prison and I’d like to go home before the day is over.”
Surviving are a daughter Darlene McLain and her husband Bill of Moscow; a son Richard Hankins and his wife Reneè of Narvon, Pa; eight grandchildren Sandra Laytos and her husband Kenneth of Taylor, Pa, William McLain of Pittsburgh, Pa, Marcella Roberts and her husband Dusty of Denver, Pa, Richella Daub and her husband Kevin of Collegeville, Pa, Michael Hankins and his wife Ashley of Steven, Pa, Ariella Hankins of Narvon, Pa, Priscella Hankins of Philadelphia, Pa, and Josiah Hankins of Philadelphia, Pa; four great grandchildren Nicholas Roberts, Jayden Daub, Colten and Jase Hankins; sisters Janet Roberts and her husband Ferris of Watsontown, Pa, and Doris Keesler of Moscow, Pa; several nieces and nephews.
