A Funeral Service will be on Monday, March 3rd at 11:00AM at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 107 7th St. Honesdale, Pa 18431.

Friends may call from 10:00am until time of service at the church.

Interment, Indian Orchard Cemetery, Indian Orchard.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Norma’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas PL, Memphis, TN 38105 or the charity of your choice.

Norma M. Massood, 88 of Lakeville, passed away Tuesday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital peacefully acknowledging that life, well lived is a preparation for passage into another life with God. Her loving husband of 24 years, Michael Massood, Sr. passed away in 2020.

Born in Lykens, Pa, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Ray and Goldie Knisley – Minich. She attended White Mills Elementary School and was a graduate of Hawley High School Class of 1954. She attended Temple University and graduated from Abington Memorial School of Nursing. For the past 4 years she has resided in Lakeville, PA and for for the previous 58 years, Norma had been a resident of New Jersey where she is best remembered for reaching out in service to others through her deep caring and sharing for people, and her sincere empathy for pain and suffering. Norma worked as a Registered Nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, Hackensack Hospital, Fair Lawn Memorial Hospital, and Wayne General Hospital. In 1988, Norma returned to college and attended Caldwell College as a Psychology major and she attended Morris County Community College where she studied Hospice Nursing. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Honesdale. Norma was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, professional nurse, loyal friend, and loving person.

Surviving are sons Edward Shrek and his wife Dawn of Dingmans Ferry and Thomas Shrek and his wife Jennifer of Hawley; grandchildren Jason Michael, Corissa Camile, Michael Edward, Christine Marie, and Benjamin Thomas, Katherine Nicole; great – grandchildren Liam, Cassandra, Isabelle, Jarod, Connor, Scarlett, Gia, and Benjamin Ray, Layla, Claire, Seamus; a sister Linda Queipo of Lake Ariel; step – children Elias Massood and his wife Patricia of North Wildwood, Michael J. Massood and his wife Vivian of Wayne, NJ, Edward A. Massood of Greensboro, NC, Mary A. Massood of Woodland Park, NJ, and Bernadette S. Varone of Wayne, NJ; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother Ronald Minich and brother-in-law Ray Quiepo.

A Funeral Service will be on Monday, March 3rd at 11:00AM at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 107 7th St. Honesdale, Pa 18431.
