Phillips,77, of Hamlin passed away Monday At Geisinger C.M.C, Scranton, after a short illness. He was born in Brooklyn, Maryland on December 18, 1943, the son of Ann Podzcasy Phillips and Harry M. Phillips After the war, his family moved back to Ashley, where Michael spent his youth. He would reminisce of trips to the creeks Millie and Sandy. He graduated from Marymount High School, class of 1961. He was proud veteran of the Air Force, serving from 1961 to 1965. He spent time at U.S. bases and Okinawa, Japan. After his discharge, he enrolled at Brooklyn State Hospital, attaining his Registered Nurse License. Furthering his studies at Kings County Hospital in New York he obtained the status of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Michael eventually took a position at C.M.C in Scranton, where he spent the next forty years. Michael was a man of many interests, devoting much of his time to fixing everything that broke. He was a gifted craftsman who enjoyed building projects from start to finish. He passed these traits to his Aaron. He enjoyed spending time cooking breakfast at the Jefferson Township Fire Department and cooking dinner at Salem Community Church. Michael loved to fish and hunt, especially spring gobbler. He could never say no to anyone who asked a favor. His most cherished time was with his grandchildren, who he adored. In addition, to his parents, he was preceded by his brother Harry, and numerous aunts, uncles an cousins. Surviving are his beloved wife, Sharon, daughter Alisa and her husband Joseph French, Elkridge, Md. Son, Aaron Phillips and wife Tammy, Honesdale. Brothers John and wife Susan, The Villages, Fla. Robert and wife Nancy, Kingston. Sister-in Law, Beth Phillips, Ashley Brother-in Law, Sheldon Hannis, Ashley. Sister-in Law, Daryl Metric, his Aunt, Jane Podzcasy and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Grandchildren, Niko, Sophia, Mateo, and Santino French, and Adriana, Aaron and Owen Phillips. Michael will be sadly missed by everyone who had the privileged of knowing him. Friends may call on Friday from 4 – 7pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel.
