Private cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory in the James Wilson Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 25th at 11:00AM in St. Thomas More Church, 105 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel by Rev. Stephen Bosomafi, Pastor.

Friends may call Tuesday from 10:00AM until the time of Mass in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Michael’s memory may be made to: The Wounded Warrior Project

Michael D. McDonnell, Sr., 65, of Cobbs Lake Preserve, Lake Ariel, passed away Monday afternoon at home surrounded by his family. His loving wife of 37 years is the former Emalee Harper.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Katherine Hinton – McDonnell. He was a 1978 graduate of Western Wayne High School. Prior to retirement, he was the Food Services Manager at SCI Waymart. He was a member of the St. Thomas More / St. Mary’s Parish Community. A United States Marine Corp Veteran, Staff Sargent Michael served in the Gulf War and went onto retire from the US Armed Forces.

An avid fan of sports, especially football and baseball. He loved God, Family, and the Atlanta Braves.

Also surviving is his son Michael D. McDonnell, Jr. of Lake Ariel; Step Daughter Shari McKay of El Paso, TX, Step Daughter Kathleen Duran of Tarpon Springs, FL; sisters Margy Coccodrilli of Lake Ariel, Eileen Lubaszewski of Lake Ariel, Patti McCullough of Bloomsburg, and Kathy Massino of Mechanicsville, VA; brothers Tom McDonnell of Lake Ariel and Marty McDonnell of Bumpass, Va; many nieces and nephews.
