Martha Jean English of Scranton, PA, born June 3, 1941, passed away on May 12,2024 surrounded by loved ones.

She was the daughter of the late James and Ruth Dunstone English. She attended West Scranton High School class of 1961. She was a lifelong member of Simpson United Methodist Church and served in many capacities until its closing. She then became a member of Embury United Methodist Church. She worked for the PA Gas and Water Company, A&P Stores Corporate Office in Scranton, and 26 1/2 years at Citizens Savings and Loan as Assistant Vice President of Human Resources until her retirement. She volunteered in many service capacities including as a member of the board of directors of Wesley Village in Pittston, PA.

She is survived by her brother James D and wife Claire English of Lake Ariel, PA and sister Mary E and husband Robert Bowman is Seneca SC. Throughout her life she became “Aunt Martie” to any child who crossed her path including 7 nieces and nephews, 17 great nieces and nephews, and 17 great-great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by lifelong friends Gail Tarr, Tom and wife Linda West amd Mary Ann Maffullo.

She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth, her father James, her sister, Nancy Ruth Rheinhart and her brother-in-law Edwin Rheinhart.

Martha’s boundless love for all she called her own will leave an unfillable void for so many blessed to have known her.

A remembrance of her life will be held on Wednesday, May 15th, at 11:00am in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.
