A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, February 4th at 10:00am in St. Thomas More Church, 105 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel, Pa 18436. officiated by Rev. Stephen Bosomafi, Pastor.

Friends may call Friday, February 3rd  from 4:00pm – 7:00pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel, Pa 18436.

Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ledgedale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Margaret’s memory may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105

Margaret J. Murphy, 91 of Lake Ariel, passed away Monday, January 30th at home. Her husband of 64 years Richard Murphy passed away in 2015.

Born in Orange, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Margaret Jackson – Samenfeld. She was a graduate of West Orange High School and The Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City. Prior to retirement, she was a secretary at Asco Switch Company and Marywood University. She also worked in the cafeteria at Our Lady of the Valley School. She was a member of the St. Thomas More/St. Mary’s Parish Community.

Margaret was an excellent artist. She was a dedicated Roman Catholic and served as a Eucharist Minister at St. Thomas More Church. She was a member and former President of the Mother of Twins Club in Orange, NJ, and a former board member of the Roamingwood Sewer and Water in Lake Ariel. She was also involved in numerous community organizations.

Surviving are her daughters Deborah Fennell and her husband Greg of Eatontown, NJ, Margaret Markovich and her husband Ron of Petaluma, CA, Mary Murphy of W. Orange, NJ, Noreen O’Neil and her husband John of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, and Siobhan Murphy of Lake Ariel; her sons Michael Murphy and his wife Linda of Albuguerque, NM, Richard A. Murphy, Jr. and his wife Jane of Top Sail Beach, NC, Daniel Murphy and his wife Robin of Livingston, NJ, Neil Murphy of Parsipanny, NJ, and Kenneth Murphy and his wife Sue of Morristown, NJ; a sister Elizabeth “Betty” Gizzo of Rosland, NJ; 30 Grandchildren; 23 Greatgrandchildren

She was preceded in death by her daughter Elizabeth Murphy.
