Margaret Daniels Walker Shaffer, a resident of Cortez, died Sunday at Julia Ribaudo Extended Care facility after an illness.

Born in Lakeville, daughter of the late Birlin (Burt) Daniels and Hattie Killam Daniels. She was a member of the Bidwell Hill United Methodist Church where she was also a board member. She was a replica watches seamstress at Sherman Mills in Hawley before moving to Trenton, NJ where she ran a boarding home and children’s daycare center. She was gifted homemaker with many talents and wasn’t afraid to share these gifts with others. Whether it be her abilities with baking (the original acinia maker), gardening or sewing. She was phenomenal at canning anything that grew in the garden. Her nurturing also benefitted her children, replica watches grandchildren, and great grandchildren (she was especially good at potty training).

Surviving are daughter Shirley Tuttle of Forrest City, sons Herbert Walker of Millerton, Lester (Ben) Walker of Montecano, WA, son-in-law Loren Lown Sr.; grandchildren Loren Lown Jr. and his wife Jean Marie of Cortez, Ron and his wife Mary Ann of Shavertown, Roger and his wife Lauren of Philadelphia, Lawrence (Junior) Tuttle and his wife Pat, Garfield Tuttle and his wife Tina, Jerry Tuttle and his wife Crystal, Benjamin Tuttle and his wife Kathy, David Tuttle and his wife Mary, Tina Tuttle Bennet and her husband Gary, Bonnie Tuttle Davis, Connie Tuttle Hunt, Kenny Walker, Donna Walker, Phyllis Coleman Shirley and her husband Steve, Beth Coleman Jameson, Stephen Walker, Benjamin Walker Jr., Tim Bolle, John Bolle, Rebecca Rose, Cindy Silder, Rayleann Bolle, Jim Bolle, Paul McUmber, Felitia McUmber, Pam McUmber; numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husbands Lester Walker, Garfield Shaffer and long-time companion Calvin Fisher; daughters Phyllis Lown, Evelyn Higginbothim, Patricia McUmber, a son Johnny Walker; her siblings Hannah Chumard, Russell Daniels, Lois Hawk, Mark Daniels, Helen Gillette, Marilla Walker, Olive Daniels, and Merle Daniels; and her grandchildren Eugene Tuttle, Franklin Tuttle and Herb Walker Jr.

The family would like to thank the staff at Julia Ribaudo for the loving care Margaret received while living there.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with services by Rev. John Craig.

Friends may call Saturday from 10-11 am.

Interment, Fairview Memorial Park.
