Loren “Skip” Lown

Loren “Skip” Lown, Jefferson Township passed away early Tuesday morning in the Greed Ridge Care Center after a brief illness.  Skip was preceded in death by wives Phyllis Lown, Reba Lown and June Lown.

Born 1935 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Loren C and Estella Williams Lown and was lovingly raised by his mother and step father, Alvie Frisbie who Skip affectionately referred to as “Pop”.  A graduate of the Jefferson Township High School, class of 1953, Skip went on to work in the trucking industry for various local companies.  Adored by all who know him and known by his family and coworkers as a prankster, he enjoyed road trips, snowmobiling, gardening and working on his wood pile.  He was a member of the Cortez United Methodist Church.

Surviving are sons Loren “Larry” Lown (Jean Marie), Ron Lown (Mary Ann) and Roger Lown (Lauren); stepchildren Bonnie Carnie (John), William Ovens (Michelle), John, James (Trudy), Paul (Lorna) and David (Becky) Mauer; his sister Veldora McCane; grandchildren Megan Arvonio (Marc), Jillian Cerutti (Tim), Jessika Milewski (Rich), and Kelly Lown (Sean); great grandchildren Austin, Ella and Lyla Arvonio, Sienna Gaitan, Vitalia Milewski and Zoe Cerutti; his companion Geraldine Kovaleski; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter in law Mary Lynne Lown; brother Phillip Frisbie and sister Lois Laabs.
