Leonard Maiocco, Sr., 80, of The Hideout, Lake Ariel, PA passed peacefully Tuesday evening at home, surrounded by his wife & children, after a courageous battle of countless illnesses.

Leonard was born June 14, 1934 in Newark, NJ. He was the son of the late Pasquale and Fontana Maiocco, step-mother, Laura Maiocco and brother, Louis L. Maiocco.  Prior to retirement, he was the owner of Myko, Inc. and a reserve Police Officer in his hometown of South Orange, NJ.  He was a United States Army Veteran.

He is survived by his devoted & loving wife, Bernice; they would have been celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary this month.  Also surviving are his children Victoria Barcarola; Leonard, Jr. & Wife Christa Maiocco, Lance & Wife Joann Maiocco; grandchildren, Johnny, Trina, Adriana, Leonard, III, Alaina, Michael, Julie, Danny, Taylor and Lance, Jr.

Leonard’s biggest joy in life was his family. He always had a joke to tell and a smile on his face.  He was a friend to all who knew him. Once you met him, you did not forget him. He had a passionate love of music and patriotism, which was proudly displayed with his Statue of Liberty and Eagle, at his home on the lake. He enjoyed golfing, water sports, singing, doing projects for his sons, spending hours tinkering & fixing things in his basement. Seeing his grandchildren play with his creations, brought him much enjoyment.

He was the best Father and Grandfather anyone could ever ask for.

Leonard’s motto was, “Always keep ’em laughin’ when you say, ‘Good-bye”.

A special thank you to The Hospice of Sacred Heart for their loving care and support.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Leonard will be Sunday from 1-4pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel, PA.

Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
