Ross Megargel, 93 years old of Lake Ariel, PA went to our Lord peacefully on Saturday November 13, 2021. Born to Leland R. Megargel and Myrtie Pennell Megargel in Lackawanna County, PA. Ross was predeceased by his loving wife Helena (Fahey) Megargel who died in 2020.

Ross attended and graduated Valedictorian from Lake Ariel Consolidated School June 1945. Following graduation he enlisted in The Army of the United States in July 1946, attended boot camp in Aberdeen, MD. He was sent to Seattle December 25, 1946 and from there he was sent to and stationed in Japan during reconstruction following WWII. Ross was Honorably discharged from the Army of the United State, November 14, 1947.

Ross attended and graduated from Pennsylvania State College with a BSEE Degree Engineering, 1951. While attending Penn State he met and fell in love with Helena Fahey his beloved wife of 67 years. They were married June 27, 1953 in Kingston, PA.

Ross held several engineering patents and jobs including Engineer at the Engineering Experiment Station State College, PA, Bendix Corporation in York, PA, Sylvania Corporation Buffalo, NY, General Electric Company, Valley Forge, Varian Associates in Boston, MA, and International Signal and Control Corporation in Lancaster, PA.

Ross was a member of Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers, (IEEE). Ross was an active member of the Lake Ariel United Methodist Church where he was an active member serving as Chair of Administrative Council and as a Trustee.

One of Ross’s proudest achievements was the design and construction of their dream home on his family’s homestead in Lake Ariel.

Ross is survived by his children Ross Megargel, (Aneita), Charlene DiRocco, (Mario), and Christine Lynch, (John), Nine grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren plus two on the way. Ross is also survived by his dear pet and friend Bernie.

Ross was also preceded in death by step siblings Ernest Megargel and Jesse (Young).

Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Road Lake Ariel, PA.

Friends may call Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00am.

Interment with military honors will be private in the East Canaan Cemetery, S. Canaan.

Friends and family are invited to a bereavement gathering following the service at 12:30pm in Tick Tock on the Terrace 760 Terrace Street, Honesdale, PA.
