Butler, Newfoundland, passed away Early Tuesday morning in the Regional Hospital of Scranton after a long illness. His wife of 39 years is Andrea Wargo. Born 1948 in Scranton he was the son of the late Robert and Gladys Frick Butler. He was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and upon graduation he went on to serve our country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a lifelong member of the Sterling United Methodist Church. Lee retired from the Tobyhanna Army Depot in 2002 after 30 years of service where he worked in the motor pool. During that time, he gained the reputation for his excellent work and demeanor, which afforded him the opportunity to chauffeur Five Star Generals and dignitaries while they visited the depot. Lee loved the Lord, his country, and his family unconditionally. Also surviving are his beloved daughters, Becky Shaffer and her husband, Jayson and their children LYLAH, Cynthia, Anna, Winnie, Gavin, and Jayden; KIMI Gifford and her husband, Chuck and their children Mia, Marlee, Molly, and Ace; his father-in-law Edward Wargo and his wife, Grace; brother-in-law, Bucky Gilpin; sister-in-law, Helen Butler; sister-in-law, Janice Batzel, and her husband ROBERT nieces and nephews Linda Gilpin Snyder and her husband Tim, “Lil” Bucky Gilpin, Beverly Richardson and her husband, Jeff, Wayne Butler and his wife Jill, Erica Crosby, and her husband Nate, and Michael Batzel and his wife, Rachel; several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Lewis Butler; his sister, Ruth Gilpin; his mother-in-law Marilyn Wargo; and his nephew Allan E. Batzel. Services will be announced at a future date.
