LCDR Arthur V. Paletti, 94, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Maplewood Park Place retirement community in Bethesda, MD.

Arthur was born in Clarksburg, WV in 1921 to the late Joseph and Amelia (Baldovino) Paletti who were humble, hard working immigrants from Turin, Italy. His beloved wife of 61 years, Jean (Guaragna) Paletti passed away in 2006. He was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church, Bethesda and was the Past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus Council in Weston, WV.

He was graduated from the United States Naval Academy, Class of 1946. In 1950, he received a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. While on assignment at the Boston Naval Shipyard, he received an MBA from Boston College. After his 20 year naval career, he owned a Ready-Mix Concrete Plant and Building Supply business in Weston, WV with his eldest brother. His third and final career was as Superintendent of Weston State Hospital. In 1984, he retired and moved to Bethesda with his wife. They enjoyed traveling the world, bridge, opera, dancing and spending time with their four children and their families. Arthur’s hobbies included genealogy; stain glass art, aerobic exercise, workshop projects, mycology and duplicate bridge.  As a 20 year Pioneer Member of Maplewood Park Place (MPP), he served on many MPP committees, was always leading a helping hand to other residents and knew everyone’s name.

He is survived by four children, Barbara Gerrish and husband, Ken of Hobe Sound, FL; Carol Haase and husband, John of Greentown, PA; Christina Felker and husband, Clay of Austin, TX and Dr. Alfred Paletti of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren Scott, Nicole, Tyson, Eric and Sonia, seven great children and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his elder brothers Marino and Aldo.

His children would like to extend a special thank you to his doctors, nurses, aides, staff and management of MPP for their outstanding and loving care of their father; and to the members of St. Jane de Chantal Church who faithfully brought him Holy Communion everyday.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 21 at 10 am in St. Mary’s Church, 334 St. Mary Church Rd., Lake Ariel, PA by Rev. Stephen Stavoy, pastor. All attending the Mass are asked to go directly to the church; a rosary will be recited at 9:30 am. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society, PO Box 188, Lake Ariel, PA 18436.
