Obituaries » Lavinia O Beers November 20, 2014 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Lavinia O. Beers, formerly of Barton, NY, died Thursday at the Eastern Star Home, Oriskany, NY. Her husband was the late Paul J. Beers who died in 1993. Born in S. Canaan, daughter of the late Royal O. and Hila Stinnard Brooks, she was a member of the 1937 graduating class of Waymart High School. She managed the Triangle Shoe Store in Owego, NY until retiring to Florida. She was active in the Pomona Park, FL Grange and a member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Pomona Park, FL. She loved to cook, read, travel, and play games. She cherished spending time with her family. Survived by sons Russell (Betty) Hamilton, NY; Bruce (Bernie) Orlando, FL,; Alfred (Brian) Binghamton, NY; Dale (Paula) Barton, NY; and Edward (Gale) Coopersville, MI; a daughter Marilyn (Daniel) Gilfillan Camillus, NY; a brother Eston Brooks (Doris), Waymart; a sister Beulah Knehr, Tremont, PA; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son John P.; a brother Freeman Brooks; and sisters Edith (Enslin) Miller and Margaret Beers. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in the S. Canaan Free Methodist Church, 19 St. Tikhon’s Rd., S. Canaan. Friends may call Tuesday at 11:00-11:30am. Interment, East Canaan Cemetery, S. Canaan.
