Joseph W. Ritter, 89, of Mount Cobb went home to be with our Lord Thursday, April 30, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.

Born November 14, 1925, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mary Maikranz Ritter.

He will live forever in the heart of Edith Lewis Ritter, his best friend and cherished wife of 68 years.

Prior to his retirement from Gertrude Hawk Chocolates in 1991, Joseph was employed by the Transformer Plant in Gouldsboro, PA.  In the interim years, he was also employed by ICS and Telespond Senior Services.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of music, and passion for organic gardening.  He enjoyed sharing these with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, many of whom continue these traditions.

Joe was blessed to be survived by his devoted wife, Edith, their three loving children, Karen Mullaney and her husband, Edward, of Chalfont, PA, Joyce Reese of Mount Cobb, PA, and Daniel Ritter and his wife, Deborah, of Mount Cobb, PA, as well as six beautiful grandchildren, Paula Kovacs and her husband, Dwayne, of Doylestown, PA, Michael Sohanic and his wife, Tricia, of Doylestown, PA, Maria Hazen and her husband, Nathan, of Lake Ariel, PA,  Russell Reese and his wife, Crystal, of Allentown, PA, Kevin Ritter of Mount Cobb, PA, and Marissa Ritter of Lake Ariel, PA.  He will also be remembered with love by his ten great-grandchildren, other family members, and caring friends.

His family is grateful to Dr. Eric deWarren for his loving care and faithful prayers, Dr. David Mayne for his kindness and  emphathy at Moses Taylor Hospital, and especially to the staff of St. Mary’s Villa for their outstanding attention and compassion.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11am in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with Rev. Willard Black officiating.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4-6 pm.
