Joseph T. Yedinak

February 3, 2015

Joseph T. Yedinak, Hamlin, died Tuesday morning at home after an illness.  His wife of 64 years is the former Mary Brown Yedinak.

Born in Hamlin, he was the son of the late Ignatz and Anna Kolibaba Yedinak.   He was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School.  Joseph had been employed for 35 years as a manager with the former A&P Supermarkets and then retired as a manager with Turkey Hill Convenient Stores.   After his retirement Joseph proudly worked with his son Jerry on his dairy farm as well as driving a school van in the Western Wayne School District where he was affectionately known to the children as “Grandpa.”  He was a member of the St Thomas More St Mary’s Parish Community.   He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 329 in Carbondale as well as the Msgr. McDonough Council 7403 in Lake Ariel.  Joe held the distinction of being the first Grand Knight of the Msgr. McDonough Council.  He also served as a District Deputy.   In 1985 he received a certificate of merit of the Fourth Degree with Council 329 in Carbondale.   Joe also was the Santa Clause at the Viewmont Mall for several years….a role he really loved.

The family would like to thank Ruth Collins of the Moses Taylor Home Health Agency for the dedicated and compassionate care she gave to Joe.

Also surviving are a son Gerald “Jerry” Yedinak; a sister Marge Kiegler of Honesdale; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his son Thomas in 1989 and a sister Mary Yedinak.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11am from the Yedinak family home located at 407 Cemetery Rd., Hamlin with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Saturday at 12pm in the St. Thomas More Church, 105 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel by Rev. Stephen Stavoy, pastor.

Friends may call Friday in the family home from 4-7pm.

In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial contributions be made to St Thomas More Church PO Box 188 Lake Ariel or to the Hamlin Ambulance Company PO Box 116 Hamlin, Pa. 18427.
