My Aunt has lost the love of her life. Worth a lifetime waiting for! The love John shared with my Aunt was just that. She and John found love late in life and he quickly became part of our family. They were so cute and in love. This is a devastating loss for my entire family. It seemed as though John was in our lives for decades even though it was only years. The connection and deep devotion they shared made an impression on everyone they spent time with. We have great memories to hold on to and remember a great man by. He was an uncle to me and my boys. John cared about our family and we him. From our trips to Fire Island to just hanging out in the backyard at one of our homes, we ALWAYS had fun and lots of laughs! I am sad the fun had to end and the love story couldn’t be decades long like you both deserved! Rest In Peace John, knowing that MaryAnn has many caring people around her to help honor what you would want for her after you have left her way too soon. Thank you for your service! Love, Dawn

John, so many happy memories of the fun we all shared. We all considered you part of the Steckel family. From the first time we met you have been much more than a friend to me, more like a brother. Just thinking about you brings a smile to our faces. We all knew that you and Mary Ann were perfect for each other and how happy you were together. Life won't be the same without you around, but we have something to look forward to when we all meet again. Godspeed...

I want to extend my deepest sympathy to John’s children, Kristyn and Erik, and their families for the loss of their father, father-in-law, and grandfather. My condolences are extended to Mary Ann Steckel, John’s very good friend and partner. I want to thank you, Mary Ann, for bringing so much joy, love, and happiness to John’s life. One just had to look at his face to know he’d found contentment and happiness. I will feel the loss of John for a very long time to come. He was a good friend to me, he was like my brother. Through good times and tough times, John was always there for me. Thanks to you and Mary Ann for all the wonderful memories we made together. I miss you and I will never forget you. Rest in the peace you so deserve. Love, Nancy

Those who knew you were amply rewarded. Gone now, but the memory of a caring, warm, generous soul remains. John was a loyal cousin and friend. For a life, not a year or just a decade. Johnny and I bonded early-71 years ago-and the seal held. Grew stronger. Then during the past five years Nancy and I were privileged to befriend Mary Ann. To John she was the breath of happiness and daily contentment. We will always hold dear our trips with Mary Ann and John to Skytop, Slopeside, the Blue Ridge Winery and so much more. Rest easy Dear John, a life well lived. Love, Steve

I considered John my Brother from the first day I met him. He loved my sister Mary Ann so very much. He quickly became a member of my family along with my daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. We had so many good times together and we will all miss him very much. R.I.P. John Love, Beth

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Maryann for the loss of her partner John. We had countless good times with them both. John always planned fun outings from Skytop to slopeside to various wineries and even a Canadian cruise. No matter where we went, we always had a wonderful time. John was always full of jokes and funny stories. We will miss his laughter but, most of all, his presence. He not only enriched our lives, but he made Mary ann‘s life wonderful for the past five years. His love and devotion to her were evident each and every day. Our world won’t be the same without you. Rest in peace, dear friend, until we meet you again on the other side! Love, Ellen and Rick
