Jody Shawn Hapersberger, 40, Scranton, lost his battle with diabetes on November 14, 2015.   Born in Scranton, he was  the son of Eugene S. Hapersberger, Gouldsboro, and Marge Bentler Fitz, Newfoundland, he was a graduate of Western Wayne High School, class of 1993 and a former employee of Kal’s Insulation.

He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.  His smile was infectious and his wit and sarcasm sharp.  He was very proud of his 22months of sobriety.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiancé, Cassaundra Emerick of Scranton;  his children Jacob R. Hapersberger of Jessup and Annalise M.  Hapersberger of Scranton;  stepson Jordyn C. Goebel of Scranton;  his sister Kerry Hapersberger and niece Keira Pfeifer of Newfoundland;  stepmother Debbie Hapersberger;  stepbrothers Joshua Hokrein, John Hess and Michael Stevens;  his two best friends Lee L. Jones and Kate Cyganick;  his ex-wife Brenda Hapersberger;  aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather James M. Fitz and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

At his request there will be no public viewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
