Joan V. Howe, of Lake Ariel, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 3rd at home. Her late husband and the Love of her life, Bruce D. Howe passed away in 2021. Together they shared 33 years of marriage.

Born March 23, 1953 in Charlottetown, PE, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Ivan Hilson Hughes and Reta Vernetta (Mossman) Hughes. She was a graduate of Charlottetown Rural High School and Holland College. Prior to moving to Pennsylvania with Bruce, she worked for School Unit #3. She was a longtime loyal member of the Lake Ariel United Methodist Church.

Joan took great pride and joy in gardening and taking meticulous care of her home and property. She inherited her love for baking from her mother who ran a bake shop for many years in Canada. She provided family and friends with her love filled cookies, sweets and baked goods throughout the years. Heartfelt greeting cards were sent for every occasion and will surely be missed by all who knew her. Holiday preparation and decorations were unmatched in providing very special holiday memories for the family.

Surviving are her step-children Thomas Howe and his wife Lisa of Lake Ariel and Susan Kwiatek and her husband Michael of Lake Ariel; her siblings Virginia Morrison and her partner Charles, Donald Hughes and his wife Carolyn, and Donna Kitson and her husband Roger all of Canada; sister-in-law’s Marilyn and Dorothy Hughes of Canada; 7 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews;

She was preceded in death by her brothers Art, Ivan, and Twin Brother John; sister-in-law’s Cindy Hughes and Jane Gilpin; brother-in-law Paul T. Howe.
