Joan M. Vogt, 74 of Moscow, died Thursday afternoon at home. She was predeceased by her husband of 3 years, Larry Vogt in 2009. She is also survived by her former husband of 30 years, Kenneth J. Morrison Sr., with whom she shared 3 children.

Born in Englewood, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Antoinette (Oriente) Miller. She was a graduate of North Bergen High School. Prior to retirement, she was the Deputy Administrator of the Lee County Sheriff’s Department.

Joan, or “Joanie” to those who loved her so dearly, enjoyed life with a passion every day.  She lived everyday showing the never ending love she had for her family and friends. When the music would start, you would find Joanie being the life of the party, dancing, laughing, and having a great time. Her infectious laugh and smile would bring joy to those during good times and bad. She was an avid reader, and an active participant in North Bergen politics for many years. During her life, she was a dedicated mother working tirelessly for her family and children, while volunteering her time with the North Bergen Little League, PTA and as a Brownie Troop Leader. Joan had an unwavering commitment to helping others and her community.

Surviving are daughters Michelle Banzaca of Campobello, SC and Patricia Sena and her husband Chris of Sunbury, OH; son Kenneth Morrison of Moscow; 10 grandchildren: Amanda, Bryan, Nicole, Alyssa, Melanie, Ashley, Kaitlynn, Emily, Kenneth III and Haley; 4 great grandchildren: Alex, Liam, Emma, and Melody; nephew Rich Miller, Jr.

She was preceded in death by a brother Richard Miller, Sr. of North Bergen.

“Today we gather to mourn as one, ensuring your memory will never be undone.

In loving memory of the one we love, may your brightness always shine down from above.

You cannot lose a person, only their body, for the rest of them can be found in your heart and mind.

Remembrance is a verb, an action we must take each day.

In your loving memory, we gather now and forever in our hearts.”
