Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10am in the St Thomas More Church, 108 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel by Rev. Stephen Stavoy, pastor.

Friends may call Friday from 4-7pm the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel, PA

Interment, All Saints Cemetery, Hollisterville.

Joan D. Marhevka, Lake Ariel, died early Monday morning at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was the wife of Andrew T. Marhevka.  The couple was married on April 14, 1956 and celebrated 65 years of marriage this past spring.

Born August 13th, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Anna Wittenbrader Ulbrik.  She attended school in Michigan and graduated from the Flat Rock High School.  After graduation, she went to work for the Bell Telephone Company in Michigan and upon relocating to Northeastern Pennsylvania  continued in their employ until the birth of her first son.  Joan was a devoted and faithful member of the St Thomas More St Mary’s Roman Catholic Parish Community.  While she prayed the rosary daily, she was also an avid reader of romantic suspense novels.

Also surviving are sons Thomas and wife Mary of Colts Neck, NJ, Michael and his companion Irene of Lake Ariel, Robert and his wife Robin of Lake Ariel, Andrew Paul and his wife Jill of Lancaster and daughter Kathryn McAndrew and husband Patrick of Lake Ariel,  her sister Barbara Merring and husband Kenneth of Easton,  sister-in-law Iolanda Ulbrik of Brazil,  thirteen grandchildren,  sixteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother David Ulbrik, sister Shirley Anne Ulbrik and her grandson Craig Marhevka.
